Charlotte’s SouthEnd neighborhood has thousands of new residents, that use the lightrail everyday, but the area along the light rail lacks public space. Inspired by the work of organizations like 8-80 Cities, Project for Public Spaces, and Better Block, the Neighborhood Living Room temporarily transformed an underused lot into a welcoming place to gather and connect. Residents of the neighborhood were able to meet their neighbors, explore public art, shop local artisans, and enjoy each others company. I was brought on the team to concept what the space could be, help realize the goal, and create the branding of the Neighborhood Living Room.
